Private William Frederick Brady (Service No:W97048) enlisted in the ACMF on 13 October 1942. Private Brady was attached to 13 Training Battalion when he was Discharged on 30 June 1943 for 'Having made false answer on attestation' (NAA) - he had given an inaccurate birthdate. Siblings Alfred, Ernest and Neil served in WWII.
Born in 1925 in Midland WA, Bill was the seventh of twelve children of William George Brady (b1882 in Dongara, WA) and Hannah Maud Brandis (b1895 in Greenough, WA). William Snr (a Labourer) and Hannah married in 1913 in Dongara, WA and lived in Greenough (where William was a Farm Hand) before settling in Midland Junction in the 1920s. William worked as a Labourer and Fuel Man.
Bill was a Farm Hand in Midland in 1942 when he enlisted in the ACMF, giving a false birthdate and employment as a Truck Driver. Following his Discharge in 1943, Bill enlisted in the RAAF in 1944, serving until 1946. In Midland in 1946, Bill married his first wife Stella Ruby Watters (b1926 in Sawyers Valley, WA) - Stella was working as a Waitress in Midland. Bill and Stella settled in Midland Junction where Bill worked at the Midland Railway Workshops as a Fitter's Assistant from 1947 to 1970. Bill and Stella divorced, and in 1982 in Kalamunda, WA Bill remarried Joan Margaret Watters (nee Selkirk; b1937 in Perth, WA). The couple lived at Mahogany Creek, Mundaring WA where Bill worked as a Welder. Joan died in 1995 and Bill in 2013.
