Son of Andrew James EDNIE and Agnes EDNIE nee PEKIN, 18 Victoria Street, Elsternwick, Victoria.

Husband of Myrtle Eliza EDNIE nee LOHSE

Andrew was born in  18 October 1897 at Port Fairy the son of Andrew James Ednie and his wife Agnes Pekin.

He attended the Port Fairy Primary School.

Andrew was a Motor Mechanic when he enlisted in Melbourne 16 April 1918 and with the 8th General (Victorian) Reinforcements embarked from Melbourne, on board HMAT A74 Marathon on 23 July 1918.

On the 27 September 1918 Andrew while servicing in France was transferred from 8th General (Victorian) Reinforcements to the 7th Battalion

Andrew returned to Melbourne HT Port Dennison 13 November 1919 and was discharge 28 November 1919 at the Termination of Period of his Enlistment

From 1927 to 1931 in the Electoral Rolls A drew was a Barman living with his parents at High Street in Malvern.

In 1932 he married Myrtle Eliza Lohse  and were the parents of possible two children.

In the 1936 Electoral Rolls Andrew, a Barman and Mrytle were living at 728 Inkerman Road in Caulfield, then from 1946 till 1954 Andrew was now a Hotel Keeper, he and Eliza were living at 1070 High Street Malvern. His mother Agnes is listed as living with them in 1954.

From 1967 till his death on 19 October 1972 he and Myrtle were living at 1469 High Street in Glen Iris.

Andrew was cremated at Springvale and his remains were interred at the Brighton Cemetery at Wall B Niche 47. When his wife, Myrtle died on 16 April 1980 her remains were place in the niche beside those of Andrew at Niche 68. - courtesy of Lois Comeadow
