Private Gordon Raymond Moyle (Service No:VX60242) enlisted in the Army on 25 July 1941 with 2nd Armoured Training Regiment. On 28 April 1943 Private Moyle embarked from Brisbane for Fall River on board the Tarooma with 2/8th Armoured Regiment. He returned from Port Moresby to Townsville on 27 January 1944 and was on leave, returning from a wedding in Mount Gambier, South Australia on 20 March 1944 when the car he was driving crashed into a tree and rolled several times. Private Moyle suffered head injuries and was in a coma for several days. He was Discharged (medically unfit) on 27 September 1944.

Gordon was born in Beulah, Victoria in 1920, youngest of five children of Arthur Moyle (b1883 in Long Plains, South Australia) and Florence Amy Hill (b1882 in Mt Rat, South Australia). Arthur (a Labourer) and Florence married in 1908 in Jeparit, Victoria and lived  in Kenmare and Rainbow where Arthur was a Labourer and Farmer.

Gordon worked as a Motor Mechanic in Portland prior to enlisting in the AIF and was in Portland in 1945 when he married Heather Belle Wilson (b1925). By 1949 Gordon and Heather had settled at Mt Richmond, Portland where they raised their family and Gordon was a Farmer. Gordon died in 1975 and Heather in 1998.
