Staff Sergeant Richard Eddy Clifford (Service No:W34325) served with the ACMF from 7 December 1940 to 27 June 1943. He enlisted as a Corporal and served at Ravenswood Camp, was promoted to Staff Sergeant on 19 March 1942 and served with 22 Field Coy until being Discharged as Medically Unfit. He had previously served with Senior Cadets Kalgoorlie (Sergeant; 84th Battalion).

Richard was born in 1901 in Boulder, WA, eldest of nine children of Richard (Dick) Eddy Clifford (b1876 in Eaglehawk, Bendigo, Victoria) and Alma Maud Reid (b1876 in Cornwall, England) - Alma immigrated in 1878, arriving with her parents and siblings on board the Hawkesbury. Dick (a Miner and Hon Secretary of the Eaglehawk Wesleyan Cricket Club) married in 1900 in Eaglehawk, Victoria and by 1901 had settled in Boulder. WA where they raised their family and Dick was a Miner and Secretary to the Eastern Goldfields District Council of Australian Labour Federation. Dick died in the 1919 Influenza empidemic

Richard worked as a Tram Conductor in Kalgoorlie and by the mid 1920s moved to Cottesloe in Fremantle where he worked as a Labourer, and in 1929 married Norah Elizabeth Flynn (b1904 in Kalgoorlie, WA). Richard and Norah lived in Cottesloe and Perth and in the 1930s Richard was working as a Clerk (Civil Servant). Richard died in 1969 and Norah in 1972.
