Born in 1923 in Casino NSW, Neville (Ted) James Mills was the second youngest of fourteen children of George Mills (b1872 in Omigal, NSW) and Elizabeth Jane Hamilton (b1880 in Parkes, NSW). George (a Labourer) and Elizabeth married in 1901 in Wellington nr Dubbo, NSW where they settled until about 1918. The family moved to Old Bonalbo where George was a Dairy Farmer at Acacia Creek. In the mid 1950s George and Elizabeth retired to Brisbane, QLD.

Ted was working at Acacia Creek in Old Bonalbo in February 1943 when he enlisted in the Australian Army (Private; Service No:NX99816) - following four older siblings into military service in WWII. Ted served with 7th Division Supply Coy in New Guinea and was attached to 1 Armoured Corps Trainng Regiment when he Discharged in October 1944.

In 1948 in Liverpool NSW, Ted married Gloria Thelma Wright (b1924 in Wagga Wagga, NSW). Ted and Gloria settled in Toonumbar, Kyogle, NSW where Ted was a Farmer. In the late 1950s the family moved to Killarney on the Southern Downs in QLD and Ted worked as a Mill Hand and Saw Miller before relocating to Warwick, QLD following Gloria's death in 1972. Ted worked as a Labourer and died in 2013.
