Edgar Wikner Percival enlisted and served with the 7th Light Horse Regiment, before joing the Royal Flying Corps reaching the rank of Captain in the RAF. Later he became a noted Australian aircraft designer and pilot whose aircraft were distinguished by speed and grace. Percival went on to set up the Percival Aircraft Company, a British aircraft company in his own name. During World War II his company manufactured aircraft in England for use by Royal Air Force. During 2018 he was inducted into the Australian Aviation Hall of Fame.
