Private Sidney Mervyn Doyle (Service No:NX7356) enlisted in the AIF on 8 May 1941, and was attached to General Details Depot before serving in the Middle East (1 September 1941 - 22 March 1942) with 10 Army Ordnance Field Park. Private Doyle was attached to 5 Army Ordnance Field Park at Discharge on 2 December 1943 - Medically Unfit.

Eldest of five children, Sidney was born in Sydney, NSW in 1907 to George Doyle (b1874 in Parkes, NSW) and Katherine (Kate) Christina Coleman (b1878 at Boyd Creek via Forbes, NSW). George (a Drover) and Kate married in 1908 in Forbes and lived there and in Parkes, where they raised their family and George was a Drover.

Sidney worked as a Labourer in Orange where, in 1929, he married Kathleen Dorothy Leary (b1910 in Crookwell, NSW). Sidney and Kathleen settled in Orange, where they raised their family and Sidney worked as a Motor Mechanic before enlisting in the Army in 1941. Following his Discharge, he and Kathleen lived in Orange, where Sidney was a Motor Mechanic. By the early 1960s the family had moved to Sydney, where Sidney worked as a Demolisher. Kathleen died in 1968 and Sidney in 1970.
