Younger of the two brothers (Ronald and Keith) who served in WWII, Private Keith Maxwell Hemley (Service Nos:V100056/VX84442) enlisted in the ACMF with his brother on 16 December 1941, and was attached to 101 Australian Motor Regiment - Driver  - on 31 July 1942 when he enlisted in the AIF. Private Hemley served in Morotai and Labuan (2 May 1945 - 26 April 1946), and was attached to 2/4th Pioneer Battalion at Discharge on 26 April 1946.

Keith was born in Callawadda via Stawell, Victoria in 1922, fourth of nine children of George Chandler Hemly (b1890 in Stawell, Victoria) and Ruby Susan Blake (b1894 in Landsborough via Stawell, Victoria). George and Ruby married in 1915 in Stawell, and settled in Callawadda where they raised their family and George was a Farm Hand and then a Farmer.

Keith was working in Callawadda as a Wood Cutter in 1941 when he enlisted in the Army. Following his Discharge, he returned to Callawadda where he settled and was a Farmer. Keith died in 1993.
