Gunner Jack Raymond Stanley Reid (Service No:TX13292) initially enlisted in the ACMF (Gunner; Service No:T20114) and was attached to 13 Australian Anti Aircraft Battery when he transferred to the AIF on 11 August 1942. Gunner Reid served with 134th Anti Aircraft Battery and was attached to 54 Anti Aircraft Regiment when he was Discharged on 30 May 1945.
Born John Raymond Stanley Reid in 1922 in Launceston Tasmania, Jack was the second child of Charles Gordon Sydney Reid (b1897 in Launceston, Tasmania) and Dorothy (Dorrie) May Waddingham (b1902 in Launceston, Tasmania). Charles had enlisted in the AIF in November 1918 - and was Discharged - not called up for Duty. Charles (a Carter) and Dorrie married in 1919 in Launceston where they settled and raised their family and Charles worked as a Carter and Labourer.
Jack worked as a Potter and Bricklayer and in the late 1940s married Elizabeth Sinclair Lane (b1924 in Launceston, Tasmania). Jack and Sylvia lived in Launceston and Evandale where Jack worked as a Driver. Sylvia died in 1973 and Jack later married Phylliss Mary (b1928). Jack died in 2001 in Devonport and Phylliss died in 2009.
