Private Stanley Joseph Williams (Service No:VX76752) enlisted in the AIF on 11 March 1942 and marched out to 4 Pioneer Coy. On 24 November 1942, Private Williams transferred to 29th Australian Employment Coy - graded Sawyer. Sapper Williams was attached to 4 Australian Troops Coy on 13 March 1945 when he embarked from Townsville for Morotai on board the the Sea Ray. On 29 May 1945 Sapper Williams emplaned at Lae for Townsville, and was evacuated by Air Ambulance to 2/14 Australian General Hospital. Sapper Williams was attached to 4 Australian Army Troops Coy at Discharge on 15 November 1945. Older brother - Private Thomas George Williams MM (Service No:7111) - served in the AIF in WWI.

Stan was born in Stawell, Victoria in 1900, youngest of six children of John (Jack) Williams (b1862 at Pleasant Creek via Stawell, Victoria) and Sarah Ann Prydderch (b1867 at Pleasant Creek via Stawell, Victoria). Jack and Sarah married in 1889 in Stawell, and settled at Fyan's Creek via Stawell where they raised their family and Jack worked as a Labourer.

Stan was a Bee Farmer at Fyan's Creek, and in 1935 in Stawell married Annie Halden Howitt (b1910 at 'Mellrose', Camilo via Deniliquin, New South Wales) - Stan's older brother Tom had married Annire's older sister Jessie. Stan and Annie settled at Fyan's Creek, where they raised their family, and Stan was a Bee Farmer at Fyan's Creek in 1941 when he enlisted in the Army. Following his Discharge in 1945, Stan returned to Fyan's Creek - he and Annie separated, and Annie moved to Sydney where whe was a Process Worker. Stan was a Farmer at Fyan's Creek until his death 1in 1951. Annie died in 1992.
