Obituary - M. KIELY
Michael Kiely, aged 58, who died in his sleep at his home at Clarenza, was a World War I veteran. He had been in ill-health for some years as a result of war injuries.
The funeral, with military honours, took place to the South Grafton cemetery. The "Last Post" was sounded at the graveside.
A son of a well-known pioneer family of the Clarence River, Mr. Kiely was a keen racing man before his illness and had a marvellous memory for race-horses. He could tell the winners and breed of any horse racing for years back.
Mr. Kiely is survived by six sisters, Bid, Kit, Nell (Lismore), Agnes (Sydney), Mrs. Ryan (Mary), Sydney, Mrs. Daley (Hannah), Lismore, Brothers are Tom (South Grafton), Rodger (Brisbane), Ted (Clarenza), Jim (Grafton). – The Daily Examiner, Grafton, issue dated Saturday December 16, 1950.
