Son of James and Sarah Ann Colbert, of Lot St., Kapunda, South Australia.

"This man stated before death, correct name William Matthew Colbert, next of kin, mother, Mrs. Colbert, Todd street, Kapunda, South Australia."
"THE LATE PRIVATE W. M. COLBERT.
Mr. James Colbert, of Kapunda, received word on September 28 that his youngest son, Private William M. Colbert, had died of wounds at the Dardanelles. Private Colbert was only 17 years of age. He went away as a member of the second Reinforcements of the 27th Battalion. An older brother is now in camp." - From the Adelaide Advertiser 30 Oct 1915 (nla.gov.au)
