My Great Grandfather

Arthur Hurrell was 5ft 4'. A florist from Northcote, Victoria who lied about his age to join the AIF.

While on duty he got in to trouble a few times, once for threatening a superior officer. After returning home from the war having fought it some of Australia's most historic battles (Pozières in the Somme valley in July 1916), he never spoke of the war again.

He was discharged in Melbourne on the 29th of June 1919
