Son of John Vaughan and Eliza Ann Vaughan nee Beecham of Skelton, Yorkshire, England.
Husband of Ada Ann Vaughan nee Sylvester of Biggenden, QLD. Jesse and Ada married on 8 November 1902 in QLD. Ada died in 1940 as a result of a tram accident.
Commenced return to Australia on 30 Janaury 1918 aboard HT Euripides disembarking on 21 March 1918 at Melbourne for onward travel to Brisbane
