Ernest William George Truan's place of birth was in Kooringa, South Australia on the 18th of October 1893. Kooringa is about 140 km north of central Adelaide just south of Burra. His height was 5’8 ¾ inches and he weighed 138 lbs.
Before Ernest enlisted to the army, he was a farmer at Hawker, Flinders Ranges, South Australia. His family moved to the region when he was a child as he Hawker Public School.
Ernest first enlisted on the 2nd of October 1916 for the First World War.
Ernest was dangerously wounded in the back and leg on September 15th, 1917. During this time Ernest was in the Cheltenham Military Hospital, England, with his condition being favourable.
At the young age of 23, Ernest William George was killed in action on the 2nd of April 1917 in Noreuil, France.
