Younger of two brothers (William and Reginald) who served in WWII, Trooper Reginald Clyde Joseph Davis (Service No:VX80766) enlisted in the AIF on 28 July 1942 and marched out to the Armoured Regiment Training Battalion. On 25 August 1944, Trooper Davis was attached to 2/4 Armoured Regiment when he embarked with his Unit from Brisbane for Madang on board the Duntroon. On 22 May 1945, Trooper Davis embarked from Madang for Torokina, returning from Torokina to Townsville on 18 December 1945 on board the Duntroon. Trooper Davis was attached to 2/4 Armoured Regiment at Discharge on 17 January 1946.

Reg was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1917, third of five children of William Armstrong Davis (b1887 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Minnie Wheatley (b1889 in Grantville, Victoria). William (a Boot Finisher) and Minnie (a Machinist) married in 1913 in Melbourne, where they settled and raised their family and William worked as a Boot Finisher.

Reg was working for the Herald and Weekly Times Ltd as a Dispatch Clerk in 1940 when he married Joyce Isabel Taylor (b1917 in Melbourne, Victoria) - Joyce was working in Melbourne as a Radio Assembler. Following his Discharge from the Army, Reg and Joyce settled in Melbourne, where they raised their family and Reg was a Newspaper Employee until retirement. Reg died in 2002 and Joyce died in 2012.
