Craftsman William Claud Looker (Service No:V160815) had served in the Senior Cadtes and Militia before enlisting in the ACMF on 14 January 1942 - Trade Group Painter - with 54th Division Ordnance Workshops. Craftsman Looker was attached to 126 Australian Brigade Workshop AEME when he embarked with his Unit from Townsville for Port Moresby on 10 December 1943 on board the Gorgon. Craftsman Looker served in Lae and Torokina, embarking from Bougainville for Brisbane on 29 November 1945. Craftsman Looker was attached to 126 Australian Brigade Workshop AEME at Discharge on 11 December 1945. Brothers Reg and Albert also served in WWII.
Will was born in Hamilton, Victoria in 1907, eldest of seven children of David Looker (b1881 in Condah, Victoria) and Sarah Helena Wensley (b1884 in Balmoral, Victoria). David was a Boardinghouse Keeper and Coffee Palace Proprietor in 1907 when he and Sarah married in Hamilton. They lived in Strathkeller via Hamilton and in Hamilton where they raised their family and DAvid was a Labourer.
Will worked as a Painter in Hamilton where, in 1934, he married Vera Lillian Jamieson (b1910 in Hamilton, Victoria). Will and Vera settled in Hamilton where they raised their family and Will worked as a Painter until his death in 1955. Vera died in 1999.
