Private Laurence James Doyle (Service No:VX128551) initially served in the ACMF (Private; Service No:V201623) with 3 Base Ordnance Depot from 25 May 1942 to 4 June 1944 before transferring to the AIF on 5 June 1944. Private Doyle - graded Painter/Sign Writer - was attached to 3 Base Ordnance Depot at Discharge on 11 March 1946.

Larry was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1916, second of four children of Michael (Jack) John Doyle (b1887 at Woods Point, Wonnangatta, Victoria) and Estella (Stella) May Clarke (b1890 in Melbourne, Victoria). Jack (a Labourer) and Stella married in 1913 in Melbourne where theys ettled and raised theirf amily and Jack worked as a Blacksmith's Striker and Railway Employee until his death in 1927.

Larry worked in Melbourne as a Poster Artist and Sign Writer, and in 1939 married Mina (Mavis) May Shield (b1915 in Melbourne Victoria). Larry and Mavis settled in Melbourne, and following his Discharge from the Army, Larry worked as a Sign Writer and Manufacturer. Larry died in 1988 and Mavis in 1991.
