Sergeant William Charles Hodge Dennis (Service No:V78752) enlisted in the ACMF on 5 June 1941 as a Private attached to 3rd Base Ordnance Stores Depot. On 5 April 1945 he was promoted to Corporal, and at Discharge on 18 June 1946 was a Sergeant attached to 4th Base Ordnance Depot. 

William was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1910, second of four children of Alphonso (John) Dennis (b1886 in Bendigo, Victoria) and Della Andrews (b1888 in Melbourne, Victoria). John (a Labourer) and Della married in 1908 in Melbourne, where they settled and raised their family. John served in the AIF in WWI (Private; Service No:4262), and he and Della remained in Melbourne, where John worked as a Labourer until his death in 1943.

William worked in Melbourne as a Labourer and Storeman, and following his Discharge from the Army, lived with his mother until her death in 1971. William worked in Melbourne as a Storeman and Clerk, and died in 1993.
