The eldest of three children, Ron was born in 1922 in Collie WA to Thomas (Tom) William Howson (b1900 in Kalgoorlie WA) and Eleanor Florence Ambrose Taylor (b1904 in Fremantle, WA). Tom (a Labourer) and Eleanor married in 1922 in Perth WA where they raised their family and Tom worked as a Builder's Labourer. Following Eleanor's death in 1938, Tom remarried and served in WWII (Service Nos:W244358/W2520).
in 1942 Ron enlisted in the Australian Army (Craftsman; Service No:WX34438) and was attached to 132 Brigade Workshop when he was Discharged in 1946. In 1943 in Perth WA Ron married Mary Milne (b1918 in Coolgardie WA) - Mary served in the RAAF (Service No:94534).
Ron and Mary Divorced in 1950 In Perth WA (Desertion) and both remarried. Ron worked in Port Douglas, QLD as a Fitter and in the mid 1950s married Joyce Merle (b1925 in Laidley, QLD). Ron and Joyce lived in Goodna QLD where Ron worked as a Fitter and Turner before he enlisted in the RAAF in the early 1960s - he was based at Wagga Wagga and Amberley before Discharging. By 1968 Ron and Joyce were living in Ipswich QLD where Ron was a Fitter. Ron died in 1970 (BDM QLD:1970/c/2596).
