Craftsman Herbert Hunter (Service No:WX21390) enlisted in the Australian Army on 30 March 1942. He served in New Guinea with 2/6 Infantry Battalion (30 August 1945 - 18 December 1945) and was attached to 127 Australian Brigade Workshop when he was Discharged on 12 March 1946.

Born in 1908 in Fremantle WA, Herbert was the second of five children of William Howie Hunter (b1882 in Ceduna, South Australia) and Mary Elizabeth Hicks (b1883 in Fremantle, WA). William (a Storeman) and Mary married in 1903 in Beaconsfield WA and settled in Fremantle where they raised their family and William was a Storeman.

Herbert worked as a Clerk in Fremantle and in 1938 married Rita Caroline Coates (b1910 in Fremantle, WA) - Rita was an Assistant. Herbert and Rita settled in Fremantle where Herbert worked as a Storeman. Herbert died in 1981 and Rita in 1988.
