Personal Stories
My great uncle
This is my great uncle, Bertie, as he was affectionately called by my grandmother. He enlisted, together with my grandfather, Hubert Oswald Wills (Ossie) in 1916. Bertie was only 15 at the time and the story goes that when they found out he how young he was, 2 years later, they sent him home! But not before he had suffered the gassings on the western front, which shortened his brave life. He died at 27.
Lest we forget.
