Son of Rev. John Cunningham JOHNSTONE and Rachel Pollock nee MILLAR, Cowes, Phillip Island, Vic.

Husband of Mignonette nee WHITE

Seriously wounded in action 9 November 1915  and invalided home from Gallipoli 21 February 1916.  He was discharged as medically unfit 24 May 1916.

After the war, Rob was appointed by Ramsay Bros. as manager of Oondooroo Station, Winton, a position he held until 1925.  He was keenly interested in breeding and racing horses.  While in the Winton district he was an active member of the Western Picnic Race club, and had the distinction of winning the first Western Picnic Handicap in 1922 with his horse Forth.

In 1918 he married Minnie White from Whitehill, Longreach and they had two sons and a daughter.  In 1923 they acquired Killara park, Ilfracombe and moved there in 1925. The family later moved to Audreystone to live until they sold the property in 1951.

Rob retired to Brisbane and died in 1965.
