Robert Herbert ('Bob') Skilton became Registered Player Number 0640 at VFA club Port Melbourne in 1922 and went on to play in 150 senior games. He later enlisted with the AIF at the age of 39 on 2 July 1940. He became a prisoner of war in Thailand in May 1943 and survived over two years working on the infamous Burma Railway. Robert is the father of AFL South Melbourne champion player and triple Brownlow Medalist Bob Skilton.
