Corporal Arthur Norman Frost (Service No:TX5604) initially served two years in the Cadets and Militia before enlisting in the ACMF (Private; Service No:495277) on 1 May 1939. Private Frost was attached to 12/50 Infantry Battalion when he Discharged on 16 January 1940. He enlisted in the AIF on 15 July 1941 and embarked from Sydney for the Middle East on 1 September 1941 on board HMT MM. On 20 September 1943 he was promoted to Lance Corporal, and on 18 December 1944 to Corporal. On 30 January 1942 he embarked from the Middle East for Australia on board SS Ile de France and was attached to 2/4 Australian Beach Workshops AEME in 1943. On 1 May 1945, Corporal Frost embarked from Cairns for Morotai on board the Liberty Ship 'Lindley M Garrison' - he emplaned from Morotai for Brisbane on 30 May 1945 and was Discharged on 13 June 1945.
Born in 1907 in Ulverstone Tasmania, Arthur was the eldest of five children of Norman Lewis Frost (b1881 in Westbury, Tasmania) and Elizabeth Heazlewood (b1882 in Ulverstone, Tasmania). Norman served in the Boer War (Private; Service No:161 with 2nd Tasmanian Imperial Bushmen) and in WWII (Sergeant; Service No:T29646). Norman (a Cycle Mechanic) and Elizabeth married in 1907 in Devonport, Tasmania and settled in Ulverstone where they raised their family and Norman was a Cycle Mechanic and Garage Proprietor.
Arthur was a Plumber and Metal Worker in 1937 when he married Gean Adelaide Davenport (b1914 in Branxholm, Tasmania) - Gean was a Nurse. Arthur and Gean settled in Ulverstone where they raised their family and Arthur worked as a Plumber. Arthur died in 1966 and Gean in 1979.
