Sergeant Ernest Albert Victor Manning (Service Nos:VX87592/V199047) enlisted on 30 August 1942 and was attached to 3 Australian Division Supply Coy when he was Discharged on 27 November 1945.

Born in 1918 in Richmond in Melbourne Victoria, Ernest was the eldest of three children of Ernest James Manning (b1895 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Elsie May Dickinson (b1891 in Geelong, Victoria). Ernest Snr was working in the Boot Trade in Melbourne in 1917 when he and Elsie married. They settled in Melbourne where they raised their family and Ernest Snr worked in the Boot Trade.

Ernest was a Salesman in Melbourne in 1940 and enlisted in the ACMF in 1942, then the AIF. In 1942 in Melbourne Ernest married Beatrice (Tess) Elsie Buckinham (b1918 in St Kilda, Melbourne, Victoria). Following his Discharge in 1945 Ernest and Tess settled in Melbourne where Ernest was a Salesman before relocating to Canberra, ACT in the 1950s. Ernest continued working as a Salesman in Canberra, where he died in 2008 and Tess died in 2011.
