Glentworth Francis Pearce
GLENTWORTH FRANCIS PEARCE (1895-1964) born at Yass, son of Edmund and Emily Jane Pearce nee James. Glen served in WW1 as Private 1715, 55th Battalion, enlisting on January 4th, 1916 and had spent 4 years with the Cadets. He embarked for Europe – France, on HMAT A40 Ceramic April 14th, 1916, in the 2-5th Reinforcements and disembarked at Port Said on May 16th. The battalion then boarded th Arcadian at Alexandria on July 29th, for Southampton via Marseilles where they landed on August 9th. At the end of the month he was in France. Private Pearce was listed for Return to Australia on June 23rd, 1919 on board the Orita, arriving on August 9th. He was awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
