Sapper Leslie Elliott
Leslie Elliott (NX123166), an Australian soldier of the Second World War, was born in Grenfell NSW in November 1915, the second son of Thomas Francis and Albina (Biney) Elliott. His older brother was Thomas Samuel Elliott (NX11799, 1913-1961, see separate record).
Les enlisted to serve in the Australian Military Forces in July 1942 (see Attestation Form). He served in New Guinea from August 1942 until July 1943 and from September 1943 to July 1944. He attained the rank of Sapper.
Les was discharged from the Army in 1946. Later in life he worked on the Snowy Mountains hydroelectric scheme. He died in the late 1970s in Canowindra, NSW.
