Eyewitness reports: -

30 November 1916 - Pte G.T. Clay of  D Company with 60th Battalion. - 'Pte. R. Mason, XVI Platoon, D. Coompany, was with him when he died at Fleurbaix on July 19th. Sheldrick was badly wounded and died out in No Man's Land. Mason stayed with him until his death, and gave me the facts a few nights later when he came in.'
