Disembarked Plymouth, England, 16 October 1916.

Found guilty, Perham Downs, 10 November 1916, of being absent without leave from midnight, 6 November, to 4 pm, 7 November 1916: awarded forfeiture of 4 days' pay; forfeited a total of 5 days' pay.

Proceeded overseas to France, 13 December 1916; taken on strength, 6th Bn, 17 December 1916.

Wounded in action, 20 April 1917 (gun shot wound, left arm); admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance and thence to 9th Casualty Clearing Station, 21 April 1917; to Ambulance Train No 16, 27 April 1917, and admitted to No 1 Australian General Hospital, Rouen, 28 April 1917; transferred to England, 30 April 1917, and admitted to 1st Birmingham War

Hospital, 1 May 1917. Transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 30 May 1917; discharged on furlough, 6 June 1917, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 17 June 1917.

Marched in to Overseas Training Depot, Perham Downs, 10 July 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 8 August 1917; rejoined unit, in the field, 26 August 1917.

Admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance, 3 November 1917 (laryngitis), and transferred same day to 1st Australian Division Rest Station; discharged to duty and rejoined unit, 9 November 1917.

Admitted to 2nd Australian Field Ambulance, 19 January 1918; transferred same day to 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train, 20 January 1918, and admitted same day to 13th General Hospital, Boulogne (trench fever); transferred to No 1 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 25 January 1918; to Australian Infantry Base Depot, Havre, 24 February 1918; rejoined unit, 13 March 1918.
