Sapper Donald Werrbiee Crook (Service No:VX57977) enlisted in the Australian Army on 18 June 1941. He was attached to 2/4 Australian Field Squadron when he was Discharged on 28 February 1946.
Born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1922, Donald was the eldest of two children of Cecil (Webbe) Werribee Crook (b1890 at St Arnaud, Victoria) and Kathleen Mary Burke (b1894 in Melbourne, Victoria). Webbe (a Farmer) and Kathleen married in Melbourne in 1920 following Webbe's return from WWI (Driver; Service No:2178). Webbe and Kathleen settled in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria where Webbe was a Farmer. The family moved to Bendigo in the 1930s where Webbe worked as a Cartage Contractor before settling Melbourne, Victoria by the early 1940s - Webbe was a Munitions Worker and Labourer.
In 1947 Donald was a Carrier in Alexandra, Indi, Victoria when he married Margaret Joyce Boote (b1928 in Melbourne, Victoria). Donald and Margaret settled in Alexandra where Donald worked as a Carrier and Factory Manager. In the late 1970's they moved to QLD where Donald joined the Public Service as a Customs Officer, and lived in Beenleigh, Mackay and Brisbane. Margaret died in 2002 and Donald in 2006.
