Jack was the third of six children of James Martin Brady (b1878 in Brisbane, QLD) and Loretta Josephine Mary Hunt (b1880 in Sydney, NSW). James (a Butcher) and Loretta (a Domestic Servanr at Brisbane Hospital) married in 1905 in Brisbane, QLD. The family lived in NSW - Raymond Terrace, Lismore and Sydney where James was a Butcher.

Jack was a Butcher in Newcastle NSW in 1925 when he married Thelma Josephine Snedden (b1907 in Newcastle NSW). They Divorced in 1937 and Jack was a Butcher living in Sydney NSW in 1939 when he married Eileen Matson (b1915 in Sydney NSW) - Eileen was a Box Maker. Jack was working as a Driver Mechanic in Sydney in 1940 when he enlisted in the Australian Army - in his Attestation Papers he states that he had served in the Militia as a Bombardier with 109 LH Battery. Jack was a Gunner (Service No:NX77938) attached to 1 Field Training Regiment when he was Discharged in February 1942.

Jack and Eileen settled in Sydney NSW where Jack worked as a Butcher, Grocer and Builder. Eileen died in 1989 and Jack in 1990.
