Private Thomas Peter Edward Curtis (Service No:WX34517) initially served in the Militia (Private; Service No:276260) from 30 February 1933 with 11/16th Battalion. He then enlisted in the ACMF (Gunner; Service No:W57685) and served with 3 Field Regiment (20 Februuary 1942 - 18 October 1942). Private Curtis was 'in the field' on 19 October 1942 when he enlisted in the AIF and served with 3 Field Regiment and Fremantle Coast Artillery. Private Rose was attached to 3 Field Regiment at Discharge on 22 November 1945.

Born in 1915 in London England, Peter was the eldest of five children of Thomas Peter Curtis (b1895 in London, England) and Madeleine Marie Van Acker (b1896 in Moerbeke, Belgium). Thomas and Madeleine married in 1915 in Kent, England - Thomas was a Gunner with the Royal Field Artillery (Regimental No:82115). Thomas and Marie immigrated in 1924, arriving in Albany WA with their children on board SS Demosthenes as part of the Group Settlement Scheme. The family settled at Northcote where Thomas was a Settler before moving to Perth where he worked as a Labourer. Thomas and Marie returned to England in 1937, returning to WA in 1947 and settling in Mandurah.

Peter worked as a Farm Hand at Goomalling in 1932 and a Florist in Perth in 1933 before moving to Geraldton where he worked as a Labourer at Deepdale Dairy. He was a Labourer in Perth in 1938 when he married Myrtle Elizabeth Rose (b1916 in Pingelly, WA). Peter was working as a Carrier's Assistant in Perth in 1942 when he enlisted in the ACMF, Following cessation of hostilities, Peter remained in the Army until Retirement. Myrtle died in 1993 and Peter in 2008.
