Born in Werribee, Victoria in 1916 to parents Margaret Brassil (dec. 1971) of Werribee and Thomas O'Malley (d. 1963) of Mayo, Ireland.

Married Lena Wilson (d. 2000) in 1938, with whom he had 7 children; Patrick (d. 2021), Thomas, Kathleen (d. 2013), Elizabeth, Aileen, Kevin & Gerard.

Passed away in Werribee on May 11th, 1999, aged 82.
