Private Ivan Cecil Rodda (Service No:VX500627) initially served in the RAAF (Leading Aircraftman; Service No:159541) - enlisting as an Aircraftman I at No1 Recruiting Centre Melbourne on 28 February 1945 - mustered as Steward. In August 1945 he was posted to 34 Operational Base Unit (OBU) and promoted to Leading Aircraftman. In December 1945 LAC Rodda (attached to 11 Stores Depot)  was Discharged at his own request - stated his father required his assistance with work on the dairy farm. On 27 February 1946 Private Rodda enlisted in the Interim Army with 120 General Transport Coy AASC and served in Kure, Japan with the BCOF (15 October 1946 - 12 March 1948. Private Rodda was Discharged on 18 April 1948.

Ivan was born in Warragul, Victoria in 1926, fourth of five children of Harold Christopher Rodda (b1890 in Daylesford, Victoria) and Alice Mary Stirling (b1890 in Bendigo, Victoria). Harold served in WWI and was a Farmer in Thorpdale via Moe in 1919 when he and Alice married in Trafalgar via Moe. They settled at Thorpdale where they raised their family and Harold was a Farmer (Dairy and Potato) until the mid 1920s when the family moved to Melbourne, where Harold worked as a Labourer. Through the 1930s to early 1960s Harold and Alice lived in Wodonga - where Harold was a Blacksmith - and Sale, Morwell and Tynong where he was a Farmer/Grazier. Harold also served in WWII.

Ivan was working in Sale as a Truck Driver for his father in 1945 when he enlisted in the RAAF, then the Army Following his Discharge, Ivan returned to Sale where he was working as a Winder's Assistant in 1949 when he married Mary Benita Sandford (b1930 in Orbost, Victoria). Ivan and Mary lived in Sale, where Ivan was in partnership as a Wood Merchant and in Morwell where he worked as a Carpenter. In 1955 they moved to Brisbane, QLD where Ivan was a Taxi Driver before returning to Victoria in the early 1960s where he worked as a Compositior. In the mid 1960s Ivan and Mary moved their family to Perth, WA where Ivan worked as a Carpenter. Folllowing Ivan's death in 1982, Mary remarried and died in Perth in 2013.
