Her story

Born in Corowa NSW 1905. She began her nursing career in 1923 at Albury District Hospital and sat her exams in 1926. She nursed in Sydney. She enlisted in 1939 and embarked Jan 1940 for the Middle East. She served until June 1942 when she married Major E B Wallace. She wore her nurses uniform. She died at The Entrance in July 1967.

KOGARAH WAR NURSE. 
Sister Eileen Heathcote, of 'Brooklyn Private Hospital, Kogarah, has been selected as one of the 138 nurses to leave for overseas service with the Second A.I.F.  Sister Heathcote has been at Brooklyn Hospital during the last twelve years, with intermittent periods at other hospitals, including work at the Randwick Military Hospital. In the great war she lost three brothers, and one returned wounded. She went through her training at Albury, and at present is doing camp duty at Liverpool. She is a keen sportswoman, being interested in golf, hockey, and tennis.

Met recently—a great moment was that experienced by SISTER EILEEN HEATHCOTE, of Henty, when she met her brother, PTE. ROBERT HEATHCOTE, Henty, in Palestine. Sister Heathcote trained at the  Albury hospital. Her brother is with the A.I.F. in the Land Army Division. 

The marriage was celebrated at St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church, Macquarie Street, Sydney, by the Rev. Campbell Wood, on Tuesday last, at 6.15 p.m., of Sister Eileen Jane Heathcote, A.I.F.,  daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. Heathcote, 'Inverness,' Culcairn, and Major E. Bruce Wallace, A.I.F., son of the late Mr. Wallace and Mrs. T.' J. Wallace, of Geelong. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Ralph Heathcote, wore her A.I.F. nurses' uniform, and was attended by Miss Dorothy Swanton, Matron of 'Brooklyn' Hospital, Sydney. The best man was Mr. Ken Foster, of Sydney. After  the ceremony, a reception was held at Tattersall's Hotel, Pitt Street, where about fifty guests attended. The future home of Major and Mrs. Wallace will be at Manly. Both the bride and bridegroom have— recently returned from service overseas.
