Son of Walter Joseph Oliff and Sarah Angelina Oliff of Spreydon, Carrington Road, Randwick, NSW formerly of Leichhardt, NSW.

On 1 July 1919 Edward married Bridget Belinda Ennes in Church of Ireland, Christ Church, Dublin, Ireland. I. Percy Phaer officiated. Surname on marriage certificate is spelt Oliff.

Commenced return to Australia on 25 September 1919 aboard HT Malawa disembarking on 12 November 1919
