He was 25 and the son of Alexander and Emily Mitchell, of 293, Barkly St., St. Kilda, Victoria, Australia

His father died 28 April 1935 aged 76 at St Kilda, and is interred there. The inscription on his grave reads:

‘his son, Charles Stewart Mitchell Died 3 Oct. 1917 aged 25 years, 5th Battn. AIF, died of wounds in England.

Emily, wife and mother of above Died 7 May 1944.’
