Son of William Henry and Elizabeth Lambert of Creswick, Victoria.

Brother of Albert Lambert who returned to Australia on 12 May 1919 having served with the 39th Battalion; Frank Arnold Lambert who died of wounds on 17 May 1915 while serving with the 8th Battalion and is buried in the Alexandria (Chatby) Military War Cemetery, Row M, Grave 175; William Joseph Lambert who was killed in action on either the 8-9 August 1915 while serving with the 7th Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on the Lone Pine Memorial, Panel 29
