Private Sidney Frank Deeth (Service Nos:V113367/VX133673) initially enlisted in the ACMF in Melbourne, and was attached to 22 Coy AASC 'in the field' in Gin Gin WA when he transferred to the AIF on 28 December 1942. Private (Driver) Deeth was attached to 2/2 HQ Guard Battalion at Discharge on 3 May 1945.

Sid was born in London, England in 1908, youngest of four children of John James Death (b1873 in London, England) and Margaret Bedelia Vance (b1875 in Dublin, Ireland). John and Margaret married in 1895 in London, where they settled and raised their family and John worked as a Carman. In 1913 John immigrated to Melbourne, and Margaret and the children arrived in 1914 on board the Norseman. The family settled in Melbourne, where John was working as an Electric Car Driver/Tramways Motorman in 1915 when he enlisted in the AIF. Following his Discharge from the Army, John and Margaret settled in Melbourne - changing the family name from 'Death' to 'Deeth' in the 1920s. John worked as a Tramways Motorman, Delaer and Carpenter.

Sid was a Grocer's Assistant in Melbourne in 1941 when he enlisted in the Army. Following Discharge, Sid returned to Melbourne where he worked as a Grocer and Storeman before retiring in the 1970s. Sid died in 1989.
