Norman was the son of Robert Gilmour Macauley and Mabel Eleanor Macauley nee Bowmaker.
Married in 1946 to Captain Jess Gregory Doyle.
Memorial: The New South Wales Garden of Remembrance.
Awarded Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1947.
