Sergeant Keith Herbert Allan (Service No:VX107886) initially served in the ACMF (Private; Service No:V37507), enlisting as a Private on 31 October 1941, and was a Corporal with 22nd Infantry Battalion when he enlisted 'in the field' in the AIF on 29 July 1942. Corporal Allan served in New Guinea (Milne Bay, Madang; 21 February 1943 - 26 August 1944) and in New Britian (Jacquinot Bay; 6 January 1945 - 11 September 1946). Sergeant Allan was attached to 22nd Infantry Battalion at Discharge on 5 February 1946.
Keith was born in Melbourne, Victoria in 1920, youngest of three children of the Reverend James Ernest Allan (b1883 in Melbourne, Victoria) and Elsie Gertrude Avon Wright (b1886 in Lancefield in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria). James was a Grocer in 1910 when he and Elsie married in Melbourne, and soon after became an Evangelist/Clergyman. James and Elsie lived in Melbourne and South Australia, before settling in Melbourne where they raised their family and Ernest was a Clergyman.
Keith worked as a Commercial Artist in Melbourne, serving in the Army before returning to Melbourne. In 1943 Keith married Ivy Grace Wilson (b1922 in Melbourne, Victoria) and the couple settled in Melbourne where they raised their family and Keith was a Commercial Artist. Keith died in 2008 and Ivy in 2010.
