Dramatic rescue

DRAMATIC RESCUE
Quick action on the part of a 45 year old ex-serviceman a Ebor resident, Thomas Hall saved the lives of two Ebor Misses Kath Gerrard and, Heather Miller who had been swimming in the Ebor River.
Hall had jusi returned from Wollomombi and had called into the residence of Mr Cox, a retired mill worker for cup of tea.
On hearing screams from a group of women and children Hall ran 100 yards to the river hank, stripped to his underclothes and jumped in, swimming 25 yards to where the girls, clinging to each other were drifting into deeper water.
Hall brought the girls into shallow water and after the rescue they were given first aid by former bush nurses.
