26 Jul 1916: Honoured Distinguished Conduct Medal, Battle for Pozières , Conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty at Pozieres. On three occassions he brought in wounded from No Man's Land under heavy fire. On 26th July he was prominent in bombing attack on Munster Alley and on the 29th July, after taking part in the attack he brought in wounded under heavy Machine Gun and riffle fire.
