Norman Lyndon Cyril Jones was an original member of F Company 15th Battalion and served at the Anzac Landing 25 April 1915. He was wounded in action at Gallipoli 27 August 1915, GSW wounds to arm and hand and evacuated to England. He was returned to Australia with bomb wounds to his hands during March 1916.

His brother 4184 Pte. Clifford George Ambrose Jones 47th Battalion AIF, was killed in action on 5 April 1918, during the defence of Dernacourt, age 33.

His brother, 1878A Gnr. Stuart Harold Jones 11th Field Artillery Brigade was wounded in action on 5 April 1918, also defending Dernancourt, and died of wounds in England nine days later.

His sister also died in 1918, 2/J/110 Sister Hilda Lilian Jones, Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service, who died from influenza leading to pneumonia, on 28 October 1918. She was 32 years of age and buried in the Plymouth (Ford Park) Cemetery, Devon, England.

Another brother, Private Leslie Trevor Jones 3rd Battalion AIF, was shot in the abdomen during the Anzac Landing and was evacuated to Australia during early 1916.

Norman later married and raised a large family, and became a veterinary surgeon in Lismore, New South Wales.
