Reginald Victor Meggs was born 23 November 1889 in Bendigo Victoria. Reginald enlisted with Australian Imperial Force on 12 October 1914 at age 24. His next of kin is stated as Mrs J. Meggs of Williamstown Rifles Range Victoria.

According to enlistment document, Reginald had served 4 years prior from 1900-1914 as Light Horse & Williamstown Rifles Trumpeter.

Enlisting in the Australian Imperial Force on 12 October 1914, staring as a transport driver. He embarked from Australia in 22 December 1914, then from Avonmouth on the "SS.Saba" 12 July 1915 and disembarked in Rouen 15 July 1915. He mastered the trade of electrician on 24 November 1916.

On 5 September 1917, Mrs Meggs was informed that Reginald Meggs was admitted to Richmond Military Hospital England with Trench Fever. (SN1450 Electrician R.V.Meggs - 1st Ammunition Sub Park).

He returned to Australia 15 September 1918, on Transport D22 for Submarine Guard Duty and the following year discharged on 17 January 1919.

On 11 September 1921 Reginald received the 14/15 Star Medal and British War Medal, then the Victory Medal on 06 November 1922 at Victoria Barracks. (RANK Technician Corporal).

6th Australian (Corps Troops) Mechanical Transport Company [First World War AIF Supplies and Transport AASC Unit] (Electrician/Artificer).

Reginald served in the United Kingdom and France from 22 December 1914 to 17 November 1918.

After returning to Australia Reginald (Mechanic & Electrician), along with two other members from his Unit, B.B Young (Mechanic) and M.J Green (Salesman) founded the car sales company Young & Green in Newcastle NSW.

Reginald died June 8, 1965 age 75 years and his memorial is at Newcastle Memorial Park.
