Son of John Wade and Ellen Wade nee Hogan of 'Glen Eden', Ettrick, Kyogle, NSW. Brother of Stuart Cecil Wade who returned to Australia on 24 January 1919 having served with the 9th Battalion and Thomas Allan Wade who died of wounds on 10 May 1918 while serving with the 22 Battalion and was buried in Franvillers Communal Cemetery, Plot 1, Row A, Grave 22
John was recommended for the French Medaille Militaire for Gallantry during the charge from Quinn's Post however it was not awarded
