Private Cecil McGlashan (Service No:VX103647) initially served in the ACMF (Driver; Service No:V100381) with 104 Motor Regiment and 4th Armoured Regiment from 17 December 1941 to 9 July 1942 when he Discharged to enlist in the AIF. Private McGlashan served with 2nd/16th Infantry Battalion in Morotai and Balikapan (7 June 1945 to 20 December 1945) and was Discharged on 8 January 1946.

Cecil was born in Bendigo, Victoria in 1915, fourth of seven children of Alexander (Alex) McGlashan (b1885 in Lockwood, Victoria) and Agnes Cummings (b1888 in Lockwood, Victoria). Alex (a Farm Hand) and Agnes married in Shelbourne in 1909 and lived there and in Swan Hill, Lockwood and Kamgaroo Flat where Alex was a Farmer.

Cecil worked as an Orcard Hand at Barker's Creek via Castlemaine before enlisting in the Army. In 1942 in Castlemaine he married Dulcie Louise Blume (b1918 in Castlemaine, Victoria). Cecil and Dulcie settled in Castlemaine where they raised their family and Cecil worked as a Carter and Foreman with the Council. Cecil died in 1994 and Dulcie in 2010.
