Herbert Hercules CHARD was born as Gilbert Herbert in Melbourne, Victoria in 1887

His parents were Gilbert Henry Henderson CHARD & Susan COSS who married in Bathurst, NSW in 1865

He married Annie Josephine IRELAND in Sydney in 1908

He enlisted in Bondi, Sydney on 8th January, 1917 and embarked from Sydney on the HMAT Anchises with the 54th Infantry Battalion, 9th Reinforcements on the 24th January, 1917

He was wounded in France on 12th October, 1917 & 20th October, 1917 and returned to Australia on 15th February, 1918

Herbert died on 19th February, 1968, late of Dulwich Hill, Sydney and was cremated at Rookwood Crematorium
