"LATE LCE.-CPL. E. J. L. PAGE.
The military authorities have notified Mr. L. M. Page, of James street, St. Peters, that his eldest son, Lce.-CpL E. J. L. ("Barney") Page, who had been reported as missing since August 4 last, had been gazetted as killed in action on that date. The deceased was born at Adelaide in 1895, and would have reached the age of 21 on August 13. He left South Australia in May, 1915, and participated in the Gallipoli campaign, and was then sent to France. He was a splendid all-round athlete, was a member of the Chapel street football, cricket and basketball teams, and was prominently connected with the Churches of Christ football Association. His team secured the premiership of that organisation in 1914. The deceased had a host of friends. He also took a deep interest in church and Bible school work, and was associated with the Norwood Church of Christ for four years. A brother, Pte. L. E. Page, is also serving with the Australian forces abroad." - from the Adelaide Observer 11 Nov 1916 (nla.gov.au)
